Medicines Australia Surprised By PBAC Measure
Medicines Australia chief executive Ian Chalmers said tonight he was surprised and disappointed by the Government's controversial Budget measure forcing the pharmaceutical industry to fund the Government's own Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee. While welcoming several health funding announcements in the Budget, Mr Chalmers said the Government's move to recover the cost of the PBAC was inappropriate.
Zero Tolerance For Counterfeit Medicines
Counterfeit medicines, already widespread in the developing world, are now being found increasingly in the EU. While Internet-based sales are the main source of counterfeit medicines, these products are also appearing in the traditional supply chain. Urgent measures are required to protect European patients, including a ban on medicine repackaging.
